Emergency
Storm Surge & Tidal Flooding Hernando, FL
Surge and tidal water rise from the ground up and carry salt and silt with them. Anything porous they soaked is treated as contaminated. Outside water that rose into the building is treated as contaminated, and porous material it reached is removed. Salt left behind in materials keeps pulling water from the air, so it is cleaned out with the rest.
Wet days later? That is worth a call
Often needed alongside
- Emergency Water Extraction
Standing water removed before it soaks into slab, block and flooring - the first step after any failure, and the one humid air makes urgent.
- Wind-Driven Rain Intrusion
Wind pushes rain sideways through window frames, stucco and the base of the wall. The roof can hold and the house still take water.
- Sewer & Septic Backflow Cleanup
Heavy rain and a high water table can push sewage back through the lowest drain in the building. Clear or murky, it is handled as sewage.
Frequently asked questions
Why does the belly wrap under an older Hernando manufactured home hold water?
Close to half of Hernando's homes are manufactured. Under each, a main trunk duct carries cooled air the length of the home, and where an older home's trunk has less insulation than a newer one's, its outer surface runs colder than the summer air around it. Water condenses on it and gathers in the wrap below. A low, heavy spot in the wrap along the trunk's line is the sign.
Can a washer pit in a Hernando yard overflow in July?
Into the ground beside the pit, as long as that ground has room. In July, the wettest month, the soil around it is already holding the rain, so each load fills the pit higher. Once it can take no more, the water backs up the drain hose and out at the standpipe or onto the floor. Spacing loads out after a run of storms gives the pit time to empty.
Can the air conditioner's water reach a Hernando drain field?
It can, where the condensate line ends over the field. Hernando has some 1,831 homes with septic systems on record, and through July a cooling system sends water out of that line every hour it runs. Landing on the field, it adds to the rain the ground is already holding, leaving less room for the household's water. Extending the line to another part of the yard takes it off the field.
