Emergency

Storm Surge & Tidal Flooding Naples, FL

Surge and tidal water rise from the ground up and carry salt and silt with them. Anything porous they soaked is treated as contaminated. Outside water that rose into the building is treated as contaminated, and porous material it reached is removed. Salt left behind in materials keeps pulling water from the air, so it is cleaned out with the rest.

Often needed alongside

  • Emergency Water Extraction

Standing water removed before it soaks into slab, block and flooring - the first step after any failure, and the one humid air makes urgent.

  • Wind-Driven Rain Intrusion

Wind pushes rain sideways through window frames, stucco and the base of the wall. The roof can hold and the house still take water.

  • Sewer & Septic Backflow Cleanup

Heavy rain and a high water table can push sewage back through the lowest drain in the building. Clear or murky, it is handled as sewage.

Frequently asked questions

Why is a closed condominium high in a Naples tower damp when the owners return?

Naples has more than half its homes in buildings of ten or more units, and about two in five are held for seasonal use. In a cooled tower the chilled air inside is heavier than the outdoor air, so it leaks out near the bottom of the building and draws outdoor air in near the top, through gaps at sliders and windows. A unit closed high in the building takes in that humid air all summer.

How much land drains into Naples Bay?

About 120 square miles, more than ten times its historic drainage area, according to the regional water management district. Canals dug inland for development, the Golden Gate system among them, now carry runoff to the Gordon River and the bay. In the 1950s Port Royal and Aqualane Shores were the first neighborhoods to dredge canals for waterfront lots, and yards backing onto those canals sit beside that water.

Why are there small lakes in so many Naples neighborhoods?

Many were dug for drainage. As neighborhoods such as the Moorings, Port Royal and Royal Harbor gained drainage systems in the late 1960s and early 1970s, many small lakes were built to deal with drainage, in an area where lakes had been notably absent. A lot backing onto one sits beside water that rises after a heavy August rain, so its lanai and slab edge on that side dry last.
